Welcome, I’m Sonja. I offer a holistic approach to movement, breath, and stillness through various forms of Functional Yoga, Qigong and Therapeutic Sound to support your health, energy, relaxation, and overall wellbeing. My teaching emphasises mindful movement, self-awareness, and self-compassion, helping you to reconnect with yourself and rediscover balance. Whether you are here to further your practice or to try a movement practice for the first time, you will be nurtured by the supportive environment offered here.
If you’re new to yoga or qigong, don’t worry – you’re in the right place. Yoga and qigong are practices that combine movement, breath, energy and stillness to support your body and mind. Whether you want to feel more relaxed, stronger, or simply more at ease, these practices are accessible to everyone, no matter your age, experience, or fitness level.
Yoga is a practice that connects your body and mind through movement, breathing, and mindfulness. It helps improve strength, flexibility, mobility and mental wellbeing. My approach focuses on functional movement, which means movements that support your everyday life rather than focusing on appearance. Functional Yoga prioritises feeling over aesthetics; where and what you feel in the poses, not how they look. Every one of us has different bone, muscle and sinew structure so each of us should have their own unique version of each pose. Learning your own unique makeup and working with it - not against it - creates strength, stability, comfort and ease in your daily life. Whether it’s Hatha Yoga to build strength, flexibility, mobility and balance, Yin Yoga to slow down and tune into your body rooted in stillness and inner listening, or Yoga Nidra for deep rest and relaxation which nourishes both mind and body, yoga can help you feel more connected and grounded; while Therapeutic Sound uses soothing vibrations to restore harmony and reduce stress.
Yoga can also be especially beneficial if you experience physical restrictions, such as back pain, joint stiffness, or reduced mobility. By working gently with the body, yoga can help ease tension, improve posture, and support recovery, all while encouraging mindfulness and selfcare for long term support.
Qigong (pronounced chee-gong) is an ancient practice from China that uses gentle flowing movements, focused breathing, and mindfulness to improve energy, health and wellbeing. Think of it as a moving meditation that helps you feel calm, centred, and more alive. Qigong is particularly helpful for managing stress, fatigue and low energy, while also promoting better balance, circulation and overall vitality.
